Location

When Peter the Great was founding our city back in 1703 he chose a strategic key position for his future capital. The place where Neva River flows into the Gulf of Finland gave Russia the much needed access to the Baltic Sea.

Upon a shore of desolate waves
Stood he, of lofty musings full,
And gazed afar...
And he thought:
From here we shall threaten the Swede,
Here shall a city be founded
To spite the puffed-up neighbour.
By nature we are destined here
To hack a window through Europe...

A. S. Pushkin Bronze Horseman

  Медный всадник

It is because of the city's northern location that such a beautiful natural phenomenon as the White Nights can be observed here. Even in the darkest hour of the night there is so much light that it looks more like late morning. During this period that lasts from late May to early July the city attains its unique grandeur and beauty.

The White Nights will be yours to enjoy if you come to visit us in the very beginning of the summer.

The Venice of the North

St. Petersburg is a city built on islands. In its central part there is a whole network of rivers and canals with countless beautiful bridges across them. All you have to do to enjoy the unforgettable sights of embankments, fences and bridges is to come on an excursion or a boat trip that we will be happy to organize for you.

Not only the city centre

It is not only its historical centre that St. Petersburg is famous for. You can't possibly remain indifferent if you visit the summer residences of Russian Tsars: Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Peterhof and Oranienbaum. Have a look at these pictures.

Here you will also find the Map of St. Petersburg and its environs.
